The technology is based on EPSF.UAg0.4 (ЭПСФ.УAg0.4) cartridge filter elements incorporating activated silver-impregnated cocoa nutshell carbon

The technology was patented by Technofilter Research-and-Manufacturing Enterprise Ltd (Patent No 2222586 "Silver filtration" technique for processing water-alcohol mixtures and vodkas and cartridge filter).

The EPSF.UAg0.4 (ЭПСФ.УAg0.4) filter element is a carbon "minicolumn". The space between the outer shell and the inner core of the element is filled with carbon. The liquid is fed through the lower opening in the outer shell and is removed through the upper opening in the inner core. This design takes into account the swelling ability of carbon in the course of operation and prevents channelling even at high flow rates.

250 mm high modules are thermally welded together to produce elements 500, 750 or 1000 mm high. Depending on required processing rate, the number and height of filter elements and the grade of the USF (УСФ) filtration system are selected.

 

Elimination of bitter taste from alcohol and alcohol-water mixtures using EPSF.U (ЭПСФ.У) sorptive filter elements

Technofilter presents a new sorptive filter element EPSF.U (ЭПСФ.У) for elimination of bitter taste from alcohol and alcohol-water mixtures in distillery industry

Description

The technology is based on EPSF.U (ЭПСФ.У) cartridge filter elements containing active carbon based on natural black coal.

EPSF.U (ЭПСФ.У) filter elements are produced using a technology developed by Technofilter on the basis of special activated carbons promoting catalytic reactions. Enhanced catalytic agglomerated active carbon in EPSF.U (ЭПСФ.У) filter elements displays several characteristics that account for its exceptional properties preserved during the entire service life of the filter elements.

The carbons concentrate the reacting substances by adsorption, thereby facilitating their interaction on pore surfaces. Although the carbon in filter elements is not impregnated with metals or alkali, it exhibits catalytic capabilities of these materials. In addition, activated carbon features exceptional adsorptive properties.

Improvement of organoleptic properties of RO water for preparation of water-alcohol mixtures used in production of vodkas by "Schungite filtration"

Technofilter presents EPSF.Sh (ЭПСФ.Ш) sorptive filter element on the basis on schungite

Description

The technology is based on EPSF.Sh (ЭПСФ.Ш) cartridge sorptive filter elements incorporating a natural mineral sorbent, schungite.

Schungite is a unique natural material consisting of carbon (30%) and silicates (70%) (the weight proportion of silica in the silicates being 80%). The carbon contained in schungite has an amorphous structure and a high reactivity in thermal processes, high sorptive and catalytic properties, electric conductivity and chemical stability.

Due to its catalytic properties, schungite has the capability of cleaning water from various organics (chlorine-organic compounds, aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols, etc) for a long time, breaking down organic compounds to elementary oxides (CO2, H2O) and precipitating metals (by 70 to 90%) in the form of insoluble mixtures (carbonates, oxylates, etc) from the water.

EPSF.Sh (ЭПСФ.Ш) filter element is a minicolumn. The space between the outer polypropylene shell and the inner polypropylene core of the element is filled with ground schungite. The elements have a longitudinal liquid flow design. The elements can be 250, 500, 750 or 1000 mm high. A standard EPSF.Sh (ЭПСФ.Ш) cartridge element, whose height is 250 mm, outer diameter is 70 mm and inner diameter is 26 mm, contains about 770 g of schungite having density of about 1.9 g/cm3.

Operating recommendations

Recommended water filtration rate for preparation of water-alcohol mixtures used in production of vodkas is 50 to 150 l/hour for one 250 mm high element.

Depending on required processing rate, the number and height of filter elements and the grades of the DS (ДС) filter holder or filtration system are selected.
