Filtering capsules
Description
Capsules are ready-for-use factory-assembled single-piece filters designed as minicartridges soldered into polypropylene holders. This design makes it possible to use the capsules without installing the filter holder. Capsules are intended for rapid and effective filtration of small volume batches of liquids and gases. They are especially effective in critical applications where filtration of individual batches of the product is needed (one-off use). Since washing followed by autoclaving remains possible, capsules can be used many times until the capacity of the filter surface is fully exhausted.
Capsule filters can be used for small-scale pilot testing at early stages of filtration system development to select the optimum combination of filters, especially for processing of hard-to-filter solutions, avoiding investments in stainless steel equipment. Capsule filters have highly strong leak-proof polypropylene shells and incorporate various filter materials in a broad spectrum of pore sizes.

Considerably larger filter area compared to 142 mm and 293 mm disc filters

Possibility of filtering large volumes at high rates. One capsule can contain various filter layers (combinations of different pore sizes and materials), ensuring high-flux fractional separation

Capsule filters incorporating KFM (КФМ) microfiltration membranes
Design
KFM capsule filter is a two- or one-layer pleated membrane minicartridge pressed into a one-piece polypropylene shell which is 126 mm high (including pipe sockets) and 92 mm in diameter. The effective filter area of a capsule is 0.125 or 0.14 m2, which is approximately equivalent to that of 2 standard discs 293 mm in diameter.
Capsule filters can have two types of connections:
- ½" thread connection for hoses
- 1 ½" three-clamp connection (standard)
In the course of capsule filter production, all membrane filter elements are washed with high-purity water and 100% integrity tested. Two-layer capsule filters are available with the same pore size combinations as respective grades of cartridge membrane filters. The capsule filter elements are included into the State register of medical products, have a conformance certificate for medical industry and sanitary certificates authorizing their use in food industry.
